Summary / Overview (āĻŽূāϞ āĻাā§ą)

"Springtime Splendour" is a beautifully chronicled journey through the diary entries of a teenager named Rihon. The lesson vividly captures the breathtaking beauty of the spring season in Assam, a time marked by the blooming of vibrant flowers like orchids, tagar, and keteki, and the melodious songs of the cuckoo. For Rihon, his diary is his closest confidant where he expresses his deep admiration for nature's renewal.

The heart of the chapter lies in Rihon's trip to his ancestral village to celebrate Rongali Bihu. He enthusiastically describes the festive atmosphere filled with the sound of dhol and pepa, the aroma of traditional laru and pitha, and the joyous Huchori performances. Rihon learns about the significance of the seven-day Bihu festival—starting from Goru Bihu (bathing cattle) to Manuh Bihu and Chera Bihu—from his grandmother. The diary entries beautifully reflect his gratitude for his culture and the sweet, lingering memories of springtime in Assam.

Writing Activity: Diary Entries

October 15, 2023

Sunday 9 p.m.

Dear diary,

Today was a very tiring but incredibly exciting day! We finally started our dance drama rehearsals for the upcoming school annual function. Our group is performing a piece based on a historical event, and I am playing one of the lead characters. At first, it was quite challenging to get the steps synchronized with my friends, and we kept missing the beats. However, our teacher was very patient with us. By the end of the evening, we managed to perform the first act perfectly. It felt amazing to see all our hard work come together. I am a bit exhausted, but my heart is full of joy. Can't wait for the next rehearsal!

Good night,

Friday 10:30 p.m.

Dear diary,

I have been staring at my notebook for an hour now. I really want to write a captivating short story for our school's annual magazine, but finding the right words is proving to be difficult. I have a great concept in my mind about a time-traveling adventure, but every time I start writing, the plot feels a bit flat. I think I need to focus more on developing my main character's personality before jumping into the action. It's frustrating when the ideas in your head don't easily flow onto the paper. But I am not going to give up. I will read a few stories tomorrow to get some inspiration and try again.

Good night,
