Long ago a farmer named Malanna lived in a village.

বহুকাল আগতে মালান্না নামৰ এজন খেতিয়ক এখন গাঁৱত বাস কৰিছিল।

He was very hard working.

তেওঁ বৰ পৰিশ্ৰমী আছিল।

He ploughed his field with the help of his bull which was very dear to him.

তেওঁ নিজৰ বলধ গৰুটোৰ সহায়ত পথাৰত হাল বাইছিল যিটো তেওঁৰ বৰ মৰমৰ আছিল।

One day, Malanna, as usual, got up at dawn and got ready to go to his field.

এদিনাখন, মালান্না সদায়ৰ দৰে দোকমোকালিতে উঠিল আৰু পথাৰলৈ যাবলৈ সাজু হ'ল।

He went to his cowshed to take his bull to the field. But his bull was not there.

তেওঁ বলধটোক পথাৰলৈ নিবলৈ গোহালিলৈ গ'ল। কিন্তু তেওঁৰ বলধটো তাত নাছিল।

He searched for his bull everywhere but he did not find it.

তেওঁ বলধটোক চাৰিওফালে বিচাৰিলে কিন্তু বিচাৰি নাপালে।

Malanna returned home sadly and told his wife about it.

মালান্না দুখেৰে ঘৰলৈ উভতি আহিল আৰু পত্নীক এই বিষয়ে ক'লে।

He said, "Oh my dear! How will we plough our field without a bull?" His wife was also worried.

তেওঁ ক'লে, "হে মোৰ মৰমৰ! বলধৰ অবিহনে আমি আমাৰ পথাৰত কেনেকৈ হাল বাম?" তেওঁৰ পত্নীও চিন্তিত হৈ পৰিছিল।

"How will we earn our living?" she thought. But she did not show her worry to Malanna.

"আমি আমাৰ জীৱিকা কেনেকৈ উপাৰ্জন কৰিম?" তাই ভাবিলে। কিন্তু তাই নিজৰ চিন্তা মালান্নাক দেখুৱা নাছিল।

She consoled him and said, "Don't worry, God will definitely help us.

তাই তেওঁক শান্ত্বনা দি ক'লে, "চিন্তা নকৰিবা, ভগৱানে নিশ্চয় আমাক সহায় কৰিব।

I have some savings. Tomorrow we will go to the cattle fair and buy a bull."

Next day they went to the cattle fair. Malanna's wife knew that the thief would definitely go to the cattle fair to sell their bull.

পিছদিনা তেওঁলোক গৰুৰ মেলালৈ গ'ল। মালান্নাৰ পত্নীয়ে জানিছিল যে চোৰটোৱে তেওঁলোকৰ বলধটো বিক্ৰী কৰিবলৈ নিশ্চয় গৰুৰ মেলালৈ যাব।

After roaming in the fair for sometime she saw her bull. She told Malanna about it.

মেলাত কিছু সময় ঘূৰি ফুৰাৰ পিছত তাই নিজৰ বলধটো দেখিলে। তাই এই বিষয়ে মালান্নাক ক'লে।

Malanna went to the man who was holding the bull and claimed it.

মালান্না বলধটো ধৰি থকা মানুহজনৰ ওচৰলৈ গ'ল আৰু দাবী কৰিলে।

But the man lied that it was his bull.

কিন্তু মানুহজনে মিছা কথা ক'লে যে সেয়া তেওঁৰ বলধ।

Malanna's wife was a clever woman. She made a plan.

মালান্নাৰ পত্নী এগৰাকী চতুৰ মহিলা আছিল। তাই এটা পৰিকল্পনা কৰিলে।

She suddenly covered the eyes of the bull with her hands and asked the thief, "Okay, if it is your bull, then tell me which eye of the bull is damaged."

তাই হঠাতে বলধটোৰ চকু দুটা হাতেৰে ঢাকি ধৰিলে আৰু চোৰটোক সুধিলে, "ঠিক আছে, যদি এইটো তোমাৰ বলধ, তেন্তে মোক কোৱাচোন বলধটোৰ কোনটো চকু বেয়া।"

The thief was puzzled because he did not notice the bull properly. He guessed, "It's the left eye."

চোৰটো আচৰিত হ'ল কাৰণ সি বলধটোক ভালদৰে মন কৰা নাছিল। সি অনুমান কৰি ক'লে, "এইটো বাওঁ চকু।"

Malanna's wife said, "Are you sure?" This time the thief became confused and said, "No, no. It is the right eye."

মালান্নাৰ পত্নীয়ে ক'লে, "তুমি নিশ্চিত নে?" এইবাৰ চোৰটো বিভ্ৰান্ত হৈ পৰিল আৰু ক'লে, "নহয়, নহয়। এইটো সোঁ চকু।"

By that time many people gathered near them. Malanna's wife showed everyone the truth.

সেই সময়লৈকে বহুতো মানুহ তেওঁলোকৰ ওচৰত গোট খালে। মালান্নাৰ পত্নীয়ে সকলোকে সত্যটো দেখুৱালে।

None of the eyes of the bull was damaged. The thief was exposed and was beaten by the people.

বলধটোৰ এটাও চকু বেয়া নাছিল। চোৰটো ধৰা পৰিল আৰু মানুহবোৰে তাক প্ৰহাৰ কৰিলে।

Malanna and his wife returned home happily with their bull.

মালান্না আৰু তেওঁৰ পত্নী নিজৰ বলধটোৰ সৈতে আনন্দৰে ঘৰলৈ উভতি আহিল।
