Chimpanzees are one of our closest living relatives in the animal kingdom. They share about 98.8% of their DNA with humans, which is why their actions, like peeling a banana, look so much like ours!

It was a bright sunny Sunday.

Jharna woke up early in the morning.

She was very excited that day because she would go to the zoo with her father.

Jharna loves animals.

She had seen them only in pictures.

Now, she hoped to see the real animals in the zoo.

When Jharna and her father reached the zoo, there were already many visitors.

Jharna saw tigers, bears, lions, hippopotamuses, giraffes, zebras, deer and many other animals in the zoo.

She was very excited and happy.

Suddenly Jharna's attention was caught by the sound of laughter from a crowd nearby.

"Something interesting is going on there," she thought.

She was very curious.

She almost dragged her father to see what was going on.

She saw that the people were laughing and enjoying the activities of the two chimpanzees which were kept there.

তাই দেখিলে যে তাত ৰখা দুটা চিম্পাঞ্জীৰ কাৰ্যকলাপ দেখি মানুহবোৰে হাঁহিছে আৰু উপভোগ কৰিছে।

There was a swing and one chimpanzee was swinging while the other one was pushing the swing.

তাত এখন দোলনা আছিল আৰু এটা চিম্পাঞ্জীয়ে দুলি আছিল আনহাতে আনটোৱে দোলনাখন ঠেলি দিছিল।

Both of them were enjoying themselves.

After a while, a caretaker gave them some bananas.

The chimpanzees came near the fence and took the bananas.

Then they started eating them, peeling off the skin like humans.

"Their actions are so much similar to ours!" exclaimed Jharna in wonder.

"সিহঁতৰ কাৰ্যকলাপ আমাৰ লগত বহুত মিলে!" ঝৰণাই আচৰিত হৈ ক'লে।

"Yes, my dear. They are very close to the homo sapiens who were our ancestors." Jharna's father said.

"হয় আইজনী। সিহঁত হোমো চেপিয়েন্সৰ বহুত ওচৰৰ যি আমাৰ পূৰ্বপুৰুষ আছিল।" ঝৰ্ণাৰ দেউতাকে ক'লে।

Jharna was very much curious to know the story of the ancestors.

Jharna's father began, "Thousands of years ago, our ancestors, the primitive people lived in jungles.

ঝৰ্ণাৰ দেউতাকে আৰম্ভ কৰিলে, "হাজাৰ হাজাৰ বছৰ আগতে, আমাৰ পূৰ্বপুৰুষ, আদিম মানুহবোৰ জংঘলত বাস কৰিছিল।

Like other animals they ate fruits, hunted animals and caught fishes for their food.

They could not build houses.

So they took shelter in caves or under big trees when it rained.

সেয়েহে বৰষুণ দিলে সিহঁতে গুহাত বা ডাঙৰ গছৰ তলত আশ্ৰয় লৈছিল।

They moved from one place to another in search of food."

"I cannot believe that!" Jharna said with eyes wide open.

They learnt how to build houses, how to make tools to hunt animals, how to cook food on a fire etc.
